How to Stop Seeing Temu Ads on Pinterest (and Amazon, Shein)

To stop seeing Temu ads on Pinterest, open the ad’s menu (the three dots) and hide it, then block Temu’s advertiser profile so its ads stop showing. That handles the paid ads. Temu, Amazon and Shein products also show up as ordinary pins that people saved from those sites, and blocking the advertiser doesn’t touch those. For them you need “See fewer like this” or, on a desktop browser, a filter that hides every pin from temu.com.
Here’s how to tell the two apart and deal with each one, on desktop and in the app.
Why are there so many Temu and Amazon pins on Pinterest?
Part of it is advertising. In April 2023 Pinterest made Amazon its first third-party ads partner, which brings Amazon ads onto Pinterest. CEO Bill Ready described the goal as “making every Pin shoppable.”
Temu and Shein have been big online advertisers too, though their spending moves around. In May 2025, Reuters reported that Pinterest saw lower ad spending from Asia-based e-commerce retailers after the US rolled back the “de minimis” import exemption, with Temu and Shein among the advertisers that cut budgets.
The other part isn’t advertising at all. Anyone can save a pin from temu.com or amazon.com, and Pinterest says product Pins are distributed organically. So even when a retailer spends less on ads, its products can keep circulating as regular pins.
Is it an ad or a regular pin?
This matters because the fixes are different.
- Promoted pin (ad): has a small label naming the advertiser under the image. The exact wording depends on your language and country. Someone paid to put it in your feed.
- Regular product pin: no ad label. It was saved by a user or a brand account and links to temu.com, amazon.com or shein.com. Open the pin and you’ll usually see the website it links to.
| Promoted pin from Temu | Regular pin from temu.com | |
|---|---|---|
| Who put it there | Advertiser paid for it | A user or brand saved it |
| Hide the ad | Yes | Not available |
| Block the advertiser profile | Stops that advertiser’s ads | Doesn’t help if someone else saved it |
| “See fewer like this” | Not the usual option | Yes, on the home feed |
| Free ad blocker (desktop) | Removed | Not affected |
| Block a website (desktop) | The free blocker already removes it | Hides every pin from temu.com |
How do I hide a Temu ad on Pinterest?
Pinterest’s help center says that if you see an ad that doesn’t interest you, you can hide it, and that it uses this feedback to show you more relevant ads. The menu wording changes from time to time, but the steps are about the same everywhere:
- Find the Temu, Amazon or Shein ad in your feed.
- Click or tap the three dots (ellipsis) on the ad.
- Choose the option to hide the ad.
- If Pinterest asks why, pick the reason that fits.
This works the same on desktop and in the iPhone and Android apps. The catch: hiding an ad hides that ad. It doesn’t promise you’ll see fewer ads overall.
How do I block Temu, Amazon or Shein as an advertiser?
Pinterest lets you block an advertiser’s profile to stop seeing its ads, and you can block up to 1,000 advertisers. Blocking uses the normal block steps:
- Click or tap the advertiser’s name on the ad to open its profile.
- Click or tap the ellipsis. On business profiles it’s in the top-right corner.
- Choose Block.
- Choose Block again to confirm.
A few honest caveats:
- If a brand runs ads from more than one profile, for example separate regional accounts, you’d need to block each one.
- Ads that lead to Amazon may come from different brands or sellers, so blocking one profile may not catch all of them.
- Blocking only covers that account. Pins other people saved from temu.com aren’t from Temu’s account, so they keep showing up.
We cover blocking in more depth in how to block accounts and websites on Pinterest.
How do I see fewer regular Temu product pins?
For pins that aren’t ads, Pinterest’s options are about tuning recommendations:
- On a Temu pin in your home feed, click or tap the ellipsis in the bottom-right corner.
- Choose See fewer like this (some app versions say “See less”). Pinterest documents this in hide a Pin on your home feed.
- If you clicked or saved a lot of cheap-shopping pins, go to Refine your recommendations and open the Activity tab. Pinterest’s tune your home feed page says you can stop recommendations based on pins you’ve engaged with there. On desktop, it’s under the more-options icon at the bottom left. In the app, tap your profile picture, then the icon at the top right.
- Unfollow boards that are mostly product pins from these sites.
This helps over time, but it’s a nudge, not a filter. We couldn’t find any Pinterest setting that blocks a whole website.
How do I block temu.com on Pinterest completely (desktop)?
On a desktop browser, an extension can do what Pinterest’s settings can’t.
Feed Cleaner for Pinterest removes promoted pins on the home feed, in search results and on pin pages, for every advertiser including Temu, Amazon and Shein (Feed Cleaner is our extension). That part is free, with no account and no tracking, and it works on 22 Pinterest country domains.
For the regular product pins, Feed Cleaner Pro has Block sites and accounts. Type temu.com (or amazon.com, shein.com, aliexpress.com) or paste a link, and every pin from that website is hidden. You can block a Pinterest account by its @name the same way. Pro starts with 3 free days, no card needed, then it’s $2.99/month, $19.99/year or $39 once (see pricing).
The limits: it’s an extension for Chrome, Firefox, Edge, Brave, Opera and Vivaldi. It doesn’t work inside the Pinterest phone apps, and Pinterest isn’t affiliated with it.
What about the Pinterest app on iPhone or Android?
In the app you’re limited to Pinterest’s own tools:
- Hide each Temu, Amazon or Shein ad.
- Block the advertiser profiles that keep showing up.
- Use “See fewer like this” on regular product pins.
- Clean up your Activity in Refine your recommendations.
You can also change ad personalization under Privacy and data in your settings. That changes what information Pinterest uses to pick ads. It doesn’t reduce how many ads you see, and Pinterest says plainly that you can’t turn off ads completely. More on that in how to stop seeing ads on Pinterest.
FAQ
Can you block Temu on Pinterest?
You can block Temu’s advertiser profile, which stops its ads. Pinterest doesn’t let you block pins from temu.com that other people saved. On desktop, a site filter like Feed Cleaner Pro’s can hide those.
Why do I still see Shein after hiding its ads?
Probably because what you’re seeing now are regular pins saved from shein.com, not ads. Hiding and blocking only work on ads and on the advertiser’s own account.
How do I stop Amazon ads on Pinterest?
Hide them from the ad’s three-dot menu and block the profiles behind the ones you see most. On desktop, an ad blocker for Pinterest removes them all.
Wrapping up
Temu, Amazon and Shein reach your feed two ways: as paid ads and as regular pins saved from their sites. Hide and block the ads with Pinterest’s own menus, use “See fewer like this” for the rest, and if you browse on a computer, block the websites themselves to clear them out for good.
