Who this covers
This policy covers the Feed Cleaner for Pinterest browser extension (“the extension”) and this website. Feed Cleaner is an independent project and is not affiliated with Pinterest.
What runs where
All ad detection happens inside your browser on Pinterest pages. The extension does not read or send your Pinterest account details, the pins you view, your searches or your browsing history anywhere.
What the extension stores
Your settings (for example which kinds of pins to hide and your keyword list) are saved with your browser's built-in extension storage and, if you use browser sync, synced by your browser between your own devices. A counter of how many items were cleaned is stored locally on your device. You can reset it from the settings page, and uninstalling the extension deletes it.
Network requests
Twice a day the extension downloads a public filter list (a file of labels and page markers used to recognise ads) from GitHub. This request contains no information about you beyond what any web request contains, such as your IP address, which GitHub may log under its own privacy policy.
If you turn on the HQ download button, the images you choose to download are fetched from Pinterest's image servers.
Feed Cleaner Pro
If you buy Pro, payment happens on Polar, our merchant of record, under Polar's own privacy policy. When you paste your license key, the extension asks your permission to contact api.polar.sh, then sends the key (and an activation label naming your browser) to Polar to check it, and re-checks it about once a day. Nothing else is sent.
