Best Pinterest Ad Blockers in 2026: An Honest Comparison

If you only want Pinterest cleaned up, a Pinterest-specific extension does the most: it removes promoted pins, and most also handle shopping pins and suggestion blocks. If you want ads blocked across the whole web, a general blocker like uBlock Origin, AdGuard or Brave’s built-in Shields covers some Pinterest ads too, mostly on pinterest.com itself. No browser extension works inside the Pinterest phone apps.
We make one of the tools on this list, Feed Cleaner, so take our ranking with that in mind. To keep this fair, everything we say about the other tools comes from their own store listings, documentation or published filter rules, all checked in October 2026, and we link to each source. We didn’t run a lab test of every blocker against every ad.
How we compared them
- Promoted pins: does it remove Pinterest’s ads?
- Beyond ads: shopping pins, “Shop the look” and suggestion blocks.
- Languages and country sites: does it work on pinterest.de or pinterest.fr, and with ad labels in other languages?
- Price and upkeep: what it costs and how recently it was updated.
Pinterest-only extensions
These work only on Pinterest. They don’t block ads elsewhere, but every rule in them is written for Pinterest.
Feed Cleaner for Pinterest
Our extension. The free version removes promoted pins on your home feed, in search and on pin pages; hides shopping pins, video pins and suggestion blocks, each with its own switch; recognizes ad labels in 25+ languages on 22 Pinterest country domains; and lets you choose whether a hidden ad closes up, leaves a blank card or is swapped for another pin. In Remove mode, ads are dropped from Pinterest’s own data before the grid is drawn, so nothing jumps around.
Filter updates arrive without an extension update. No account, no tracking. An optional Pro plan adds a keyword filter, blocking websites and accounts, hiding AI-labeled pins, custom columns and full-size image tools.
Best for: people who want Pinterest fully cleaned up for free.
Pinterest Ads & Promo Remover
According to its Chrome Web Store listing, it hides ads, promoted, video and shoppable pins and adds keyword hiding, layout options and downloads. The listing describes a 3-day trial, then $1 a month.
Best for: people who want those extras and don’t mind a subscription from the start.
Pinterest Without Ads
A simple free extension that, per its listing, removes sponsored pins. The listing showed its last update as January 2025. Pinterest changes its pages often, so an extension that hasn’t been updated in a while may miss ads.
PinFilter: Ad & Keyword Blocker
Its listing says it hides “Sponsored” and Etsy pins and has a keyword filter. It doesn’t state a price.
General ad blockers
These block ads and trackers on every site. How well they handle Pinterest depends on the filter lists they use.
uBlock Origin and uBO Lite
uBlock Origin uses EasyList, which has a few rules for promoted pins on pinterest.com. On Chrome, the full uBlock Origin was retired with Manifest V2, and its replacement uBO Lite works differently. We wrote a full breakdown in Pinterest and uBlock Origin.
Best for: people who want one free blocker for the whole web and mostly use pinterest.com.
AdGuard
AdGuard’s Base filter has more Pinterest rules than EasyList: it hides pins labeled “Promoted by” in several languages on all pinterest.* domains, and has a rule that strips ad data from Pinterest’s own responses. The browser extension is free. On Chrome it’s now a Manifest V3 extension, which AdGuard says has some limits, and we couldn’t confirm that every Pinterest rule runs in that version. Shopping pins and suggestion blocks aren’t ads, so ad lists generally leave them alone.
Best for: people who want a general blocker with better Pinterest coverage than EasyList alone.
Brave Shields
Brave blocks ads by default with EasyList, EasyPrivacy, uBlock Origin’s lists and its own (Brave Shields). Brave’s blocking policy says it doesn’t try to block first-party ads in the default mode, and Pinterest’s ads come from Pinterest itself. So results on Pinterest depend on the mode you pick. Brave can also install any Chrome Web Store extension, including the Pinterest-only ones above.
Best for: people who’d rather switch browsers than install anything.
We compare these last two with Feed Cleaner in more depth in Feed Cleaner vs AdGuard vs Brave.
Comparison table
| Feed Cleaner | Ads & Promo Remover | uBlock Origin / uBO Lite | AdGuard extension | Brave Shields | |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Price | Free (optional Pro) | $1/month after trial | Free | Free | Free |
| Promoted pins | Yes | Yes, per listing | pinterest.com rules | Yes, per its rules | Depends on mode |
| Country domains | 22 | Not stated | Only if rules list them | All pinterest.* | Only if rules list them |
| Shopping pins | Yes | Yes, per listing | Own filters only | Own filters only | Own filters only |
| Suggestion blocks | Yes | Not stated | Own filters only | Own filters only | Own filters only |
| Ads on other sites | No | No | Yes | Yes | Yes |
| Pinterest phone app | No | No | No | No | No |
What about the Pinterest app?
None of these work in the Pinterest app on your phone. Pinterest’s ads arrive from Pinterest’s own servers in the same responses as regular pins (that’s what AdGuard’s rule above strips out), so blockers that work by blocking whole domains, like DNS filters, almost certainly can’t remove them without breaking Pinterest. On a phone, your options are Pinterest’s own settings, which we cover in can you turn off Pinterest ads, or using Pinterest in a browser.
Our pick
For Pinterest specifically, we’d pick a Pinterest-only extension, and we built Feed Cleaner because we wanted one that’s free, works in every language and handles shopping clutter too. If you already run uBlock Origin or AdGuard, keep it: the two work fine side by side, with the general blocker covering the rest of the web.
